Occupational health, gender and interdiscipline: the study of the work process in a group of associative entrepreneurs of the popular economy

Abstract

Occupational health has been traditionally addressed since the business approach in central countries with classic employment modalities. This approach leaves the recent changes in the world of work outside, where more and more workers turn to self -management and collective organization. These workers include those women who are excluded from the labor market and turn to non -classical work modalities (De la Garza Toledo, 2009). These productive experiences are exposed to a higher level of precariousness, the deregulation of labor links and a process of intensification of the workday that leads workers to face wear processes and greater nonsense about their health and conditions of work.

This presentation seeks to account for the challenges that were presented when analyzing the work process and occupational health in a group of associative entrepreneurs in Moreno. Our general objective is to analyze the working conditions and occupational health of a group of textile associative entrepreneurs. To do this, we identify the main characteristics of the work process of Morenenses textile associative entrepreneurs, as well as their working conditions. Our research started from a qualitative methodology where 22 in -depth interviews were conducted with associative entrepreneurs, 11 interviews with key informants and participating observation in fairs and workplaces. Among our findings, we find that as a consequence of a heterogeneous and precarious work process, the entrepreneurs are exposed to greater instability and labor insecurity. In turn, as a result of the superposition of the productive and reproductive areas of their work process they are exposed to a double and even triple workday.
