Extractivisms and relational ontologies: actors and interests in dispute

Abstract

In a scenario like the current one, in Argentina, various extractivist models that sweep the human and non -human territories and people that inhabit them are implemented. It is from the hoarding of land and water sources, the use of the knowledge and knowledge of the members of the indigenous and peasant peoples who, foundations, civil associations, companies and governments, implement projects of (bad) development (Svampa, 2014) and public policies without consultations to their peoples or the necessary environmental impact reports. In spite of this, speeches linked to relational ontologies become more frequent among the various governmental and non -governmental actors that, far from understanding and building other alternative worlds to inhabit the territories, consolidate and deepen existing inequalities (Danowski and Viveiros De Castro, 2019; Gudynas, 2015; Machado de Araoz, 2019).

Some questions that will guide this presentation are: In which scenarios are these projects implemented and what are the transformations they generate?; What is the role of the members of the indigenous communities in these projects?; What are the true potentialities presented by sustainable development projects in environmental and cultural matters?; What is the role that academics assume in these scenarios? How is it possible to build other possible worlds in scenarios such as the current one?

To answer these questions, we will focus on the case of the Chaco region, in which we have been working for a decade and from which, we have carried out collaborative works with the members of the indigenous and peasant communities.
