Abstract

Sustainability evaluation acquires increasing recognition as a diagnostic strategy to move towards ecological, social, economic and political objectives contained in the Sustainable Development Paradigm, responding to relevant environmental concerns in cities, such as management of urban solid waste and within it, the promotion of recyclable valuation such as a central axis of the circular economy and inclusive recycling. The theoretical-methodological proposal implemented in the study of the recyclable valuation in the intermediate city of Mar del Plata, Argentina is presented. It addresses the complexity of recyclable valorization from a systemic and integrative approach, positioning research within the epistemological framework of urban sustainability. In this way, the political, economic, social and ecological dimensions that constitute sustainability from different disciplinary perspectives at the beginning of the investigation are articulated. The interdisciplinary approach implemented through the theoretical-methodological perspectives allows a review of the foundation of various disciplines that study different aspects of recyclable valorization, through which the relationship of the valorization with the political, economic, economic, economic dimensions is modeled , social and ecological of urban sustainability. The case study to which the proposal is applied, verifies that the low articulation of approaches that study the valuation as a complex system at the urban level, affects its operation, the implementation of integrated waste management strategies and consequently to the Urban sustainability. At the same time, it provides a series of indicators that contribute to the development of public policies that advance towards a situation of greater sustainability at the local level.
