Innovation as a sustainable development strategy for education

Abstract

The present research was based on analyzing innovation management as a strategy for sustainable development in the branches of the University of La Guajira, in the Department of La Guajira, Colombia. The research was descriptive in nature, with a non-experimental and transversal field design; the population consisted of 47 managers of the University of La Guajira in its five campuses. The information was collected through a questionnaire (survey) with 36 items using a scale with five response alternatives, which was validated by five content experts. To measure reliability, the Conbrach Alpha formula was applied, showing a reliable result (rtt=0,70); the analysis of results was mainly performed by means of arithmetic mean and standard deviation. The management of innovation in the sites of the University of Guajira, Colombia; is basically developed through the elements of the culture of innovation; regarding the processes of innovation management through the monitoring of the environment; and regarding the phases of innovation projects, they are focused on the planning of innovation projects and exploitation to obtain an economic benefit mainly, all together lead the Innovation Management to be Highly present in the University of Guajira and its sites. Establish a formal procedure to assimilate the new knowledge generated through the implementation of new innovation projects in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes and services carried out at the University.
