This article carries out a study with an environmental approach, applying quantitative and qualitative research methods of a descriptive type, with survey techniques, interviews and observation sheets to inquire about the use of good environmental practices for the development of Sustainable Tourism in San Jacinto of Charapotó. The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations General Assembly have been taken into account as a guide to promote a responsible attitude in business-environment relations, as well as the Code of Ethics for Tourism as a set of general principles of tourism development and the ISO 14001 standards as environmental protection standards, on the other hand, the Environmental Management Law in Ecuador as legal regulations for environmental protection, among other authors. The objective of the research is to provide viable alternative solutions to the problem from the point of view of recommendations suggested to tourist servers and relevant local authorities, since in the survey applied to travelers and through the observation sheet, it is determined that there is a negative impact on the environment due to solid waste and the lack of public policies aimed at protecting the environment. Good environmental practices in tourism and companies inherent in this sector are exposed, guidelines for sustainable management that are applicable according to the conditions and characteristics of the place.
